A Home Forest with Vivian deZwager

  • Tacoma, WA, 98418 United States (map)

Street trees provide the most accessible benefits to neighborhood residents, but carefully designed gardens can also contribute to the health of the urban forest, and provide great benefits to neighbors and wildlife. What does it take to grow a forest at home? Join us for a presentation and garden tour with Vivian deZwager that will teach us about green roofs, dwarf conifers, and sustainable garden maintenance.

Meeting Point: S Alaska St and 39th ST.

This is a family and pet friendly event capped at 25.

The event will take place outside with options for shade or sun. The trail is narrow with steps. Be prepared for standing and walking.

Vivian is a first-generation American whose parents' serendipitous meeting in Tacoma planted the seeds for her love of Tacoma. We traveled the earth to see family but we always came home to our neighborhood. My roots are firmly planted in Tacoma with a world-wide view. For me, seeking knowledge, community and joy in my every day is essential, and being amongst trees and nature has served this purpose.
